& Home Visiting
Home visiting can be the ideal tool for providing relevant, tailored support for family child care providers and the families and children they care for-- support that is embedded in the context of their community and care environment.
Home visiting is well-situated to support school readiness and quality adult-child interaction in home-based child care settings by visiting providers during the program day, while the children are present to coach them in strengthening responsive and nurturing relationships, creating a learning environment that responds to the needs of multi-aged young children, and engaging families in home practices that promote school readiness.
Child Care / Home Visiting Program Deserts in New York State
Child care deserts are areas of the State that do not have enough licensed/registered child day care slots to adequately serve the number of children in the geographic area.
Home visiting deserts are areas of the State that either do not have a home visiting program or presently can not adequately serve the community.
ECLC, CCR&Rs, and Home Visiting Program Partners
PCANY/HVCI believes CCR&Rs can play an integral role in facilitating partnerships between child care programs and home visiting programs. There is opportunity for shared training, technical assistance, and for embedding linkages/referrals to child care/home visiting programs in community organizations.
Goal: Coordinate early childhood programs within communities with intention, to better serve children and families.
