Prevent Child Abuse New York (PCANY) received a 2018 legislative award to create the NYS Home Visiting Coordination Initiative. We are committed to providing a forum for home visitors to learn, share, and develop new skill sets.
In 2019, PCANY contracted with 10 Backbone Organizations (BBOS) across NYS in the Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) regions. A minimum of 2 summits were held and facilitated in each region. Home visitors, parents, and early childhood professionals were at the table to identify priority areas, with the ultimate goal of improving service delivery and to facilitate cross-program coordination. The completion of these meetings culminated in 10 regional development plans and overarching Statewide recommendations for the landscape of home visiting.
The 2020 Virtual Summits were held on November 19th & 20th. These meetings were an opportunity for BBOs and regional teams to learn and collaborate. Regional teams have devised ways in which they will work toward a regional and Statewide goal (relative to the goals outlined in the 2020 HVCI report) throughout the grant period.
